As mobile devices become more powerful and more pervasive, broadband streaming of live programing will likely grow, said Stuart Saw, Channel Partners Director for global streaming service Streamworks Interactive, in a recent interview with Beet.TV.
London-based Streamworks handles the encoding for customers such as Major League Gaming and the Associated Press.
Earlier this fall, Streamworks set a record for Major League Gaming during its tournament, delivering 181,000 concurrent views to "millions of fans," the company said. Streamworks also began handling the online delivery earlier this year of the live video from the Associated Press' video service that reaches nearly 200 broadcasters worldwide.
